A Postdoctoral Position is open in the laboratory of Jonathan C. Horton at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The main focus of our research is to understand the neural basis of visual perception. A variety of projects are underway in the laboratory. In particular, we are exploring the mechanisms responsible for visual suppression in strabismus. Experiments are being conducted in human subjects with strabismus. We are also carrying out psychophysical and electrophysiological studies in alert macaques raised with strabismus. The Horton laboratory is fully equipped for primate research, including an on-site vivarium. Excellent support facilities are available. The position is open to any candidate with a PhD or equivalent. Experience working with non-human primates is not essential. Starting date is flexible. Salary will be set according to the NIH post-doc scale, with a supplement for the cost of living in San Francisco.
